This was the first time, we went to Granville Island to see the Canada Day (July 1st) celebration.because the International Jazz festival was also taking place there. So it was really killing 2 birds with one stone. The unusually hot day was packed with lots of people and cars, as expected for such an important event. Upon the entering Granville Island, I noticed that the official Canadian Goverment logo was placed up there along with the island's sign too. Very cute.

Unfortunately, we (ie. not me...) only paid for 2-hour parking, so even though there were lots of live Jazz music going on in this gorgeous summer, breezy day, we did not take time to really sit down and appreciate the nice music. Maybe next time.

While strolling around the Granville island, we wondered upon hugh gathering crowd. We went on to explore to find out it was people getting ready for the Canada Day parade!, including a pair of hockey players on stilts, who posed to fmimic fighting players (as seen in real life).

Also 3 cutes dogs, dressed up in RCMP uniform.

At the end of the parade, was the Chinese dancing lion. It was spectacular and lively performance but a bit weird to see the performance on a day that is NOT lunar New Year...

All in all, it was a great fun down there.
